Tuition Assistance Program

The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) was developed by St. Thomas More parish to provide a mechanism to assist families with tuition at St. Thomas More School. The program is funded by raising money and collecting donations to help current and future students with their tuition needs. Awards for this program are based on financial need. Volunteering for two fundraising events is required in return for the financial award. See the Link to Cash program below for assistance that is not based on need.

For the coming school year, eligibility for a TAP award requires three steps. These are:

  1. Complete and submit the FAIR application by the April 27, 2012 deadline,
  2. Work two events this summer at the College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park, and
  3. Complete and submit the Children’s Scholarship Fund application by April 27

The TAP application process for the 2012-2013 school year begins February 6, 2012. All applications are processed through Financial Aid Independent Review, Inc. (FAIR), an independent company based in Minnesota. Applicants may apply online, or mail in a paper application. The submission deadline is April 27, 2012. To apply online go to fairapp.com. The school code is 142 and the password is stmcs142

Volunteer opportunities for those hoping to receive TAP assistance for the 2012-2013 school year will be during the 2012 College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park. This is a change from previous years in that events must be worked before the tuition assistance is received. The series runs from June 15th – June 25th. To sign up and check for dates and times go to www.mysignup.com/stmcws .

The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) is administered through the Archdiocese of Omaha. This is another avenue for families to reduce tuition costs. Applications are distributed in March and must be submitted in addition to the TAP application. Submission deadline set for this fund is April 27, 2012. Many of the ST. Thomas More families who receive TAP awards also receive CSF awards. For more information on the Children’s Scholarship Fund, please visit the website www.csfomaha.org/.

Link to Cash

The Link to Cash program is a similar program that is offered to provide financial assistance. This program is not need based. You do not have to file any paperwork. You just volunteer to work the College World Series or events that Saint Thomas More is working at TD Ameritrade Park or Century Link Center.

The money you receive for working the event is deducted from your tuition for the upcoming school year.

If you are not a current parent but would like to volunteer, the money you would have received can go to a family you designate or to the program.

You may also work these events and have the time applied to your parent participation hours, in this case you do not receive the money, it goes to the tuition assistance program. To sign up for the College World Series go to www.mysignup.com/stmcws.
